Dear Friends,
The University Honors Program (UHP) is committed to enabling our best and brightest to reach their utmost potential. On our homepage is a link to “what students are saying.” If you visited that link, you noted that students from all academic disciplines said that the UHP has been the highlight of their academic career, and that it has helped them achieve remarkable things.
In public universities across the country, state funding supports a “baseline” for basic necessities with little to no additional support for enhancing educational opportunities for the best students. As a result, the UHP depends on private contributions to fortify and expand the offerings and opportunities it can provide.
Below are ways you can contribute and provide for our outstanding students and programs. Your contributions—large or small—make a difference. I hope you will consider making a tax-deductible contribution and “invest in excellence” at SIUC.
Sincerely,
Lori Merrill-Fink
Director, UHP
Supports the operation and growth of a dynamic UHP. Funds are dedicated to events and programs including guest lecturers and student travel to national conferences.
Our goal is to offer five $1000 scholarships per year. In addition to academics, selection is based on student leadership and service activities.
Many of our students choose to study abroad to enhance their education and increase global awareness. Gifts to this fund would help provide three $1000 travel scholarships for honors students who might not otherwise be able to participate.
Supports undergraduate thesis research/creative activity that is not funded from other sources.
These gifts will be directed to areas of greatest need.
